Company: MercerDescription:Configuration Engineers are responsible for creating the business logic that drives Darwin™ Evolve, using Darwin Coding Language (DCL*) - a proprietary coding tool, developed in Darwin.Configuration Engineering is a department comprised of several teams (called workstreams), all using DCL as a tool for delivering solutions.The role is part of the Configuration Engineering Team, reporting into the Head of Product Distribution and working closely with the CE Delivery Lead and the CE Technical Lead, overseeing a full end to end delivery of the ongoing projects in the team, using the best practices and delivery processes in place.As a People Manager at Darwin, you will play a pivotal role in leading and developing a high-performing team. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of personnel management, fostering a positive work environment, and facilitating the professional growth and development of team members.THE ROLE & YOUR MISSIONPeople Management
  • Provide effective leadership and guidance to a department of 35 individuals, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members to discuss performance, goals, and career development opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain clear performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback to team members to promote continuous improvement.
  • Manage employee relations issues and conflicts in a fair and constructive manner, seeking to resolve issues promptly and effectively.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement, morale, and retention.
  • Identify training and development needs within the team and coordinate learning initiatives to address skill gaps and support career progression.
  • Monitor team performance metrics and implement strategies to optimize productivity and efficiency.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in people management and incorporate relevant insights into team practices.
  • Work closely with the Delivery Lead to ensure workload in the team does not exceed people’s capabilities.
Quality Management
  • Perform frequent check-in on in-flight projects to review statues are accurate and ensure quality gates are being fulfilled.
  • Have a good understanding of the processes and delivery model in the team and be able to reinforce it as best practice.
  • Be proactive about resolving gaps in the process, and creating new processes where needed, to optimize delivery and collaboration in the team, and with other functions of the business
Communication and escalation points
  • Produce clear actions / minutes from meetings and circulate accordingly.
  • Facilitate communication between different locations / departments.
  • Cascade down information related to clients / department goals / business decisions, etc.

  • Report high level information to management on a regular basis to ensure efficient delivery.
  • Ensure monthly activity reporting is produced.

  • Proven Leadership experience
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership or people management role, preferable in the IT industry.
