- Prepare Shipments: Prepare chemical shipments by packing, labelling, and documenting hazardous materials in compliance with safety regulations (e.g., MSDS, DOT, EPA).
- Documentation: Maintain accurate shipping records, including bills of lading, shipping manifests, and customs documentation.
- Quality Control: Inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with customer orders and regulatory requirements.
- Inventory Management: Assist in managing and tracking inventory levels of finished goods and packaging materials in the shipping area.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate shipment scheduling.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including proper handling of hazardous materials, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and emergency response procedures.
- Customer Service: Respond to customer inquiries regarding shipment status, delivery schedules, and other related information.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that shipping equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and labelling machines, are well-maintained and report any issues promptly.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement in shipping and contribute to efficiency enhancements.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certification in shipping and logistics is a plus.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a shipping or logistics role, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with hazardous materials shipping regulations (e.g., DOT, EPA, OSHA) and the ability to ensure compliance.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail is essential to accurately document shipments and maintain quality control.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with team members and customers.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple shipments efficiently.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using shipping software, MS Office (Word, Excel), and ERP systems.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy packages, operate forklifts, and stand for extended periods.
- Safety Consciousness: Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures in handling chemicals and operating equipment.
- Team Player: Collaborative attitude with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
