They unite a dozen brands, including powerhouses Paddy Power, Betfair, Tombola and Sky Betting & Gaming, bringing together hundreds of teams and thousands of colleagues, who create trusted entertainment for millions of customers every week.Role overviewThe UKI Infrastructure and Platform team provides core services to our product and technology teams to enable them to have delivery and execution independence.As a Senior Platform Engineer in the Flutter UKI Infrastructure and Platform team, your role is crucial for maintaining and evolving the organization's technology infrastructure to enhance our consumers' enablement.Responsibilities include platform design, development and maintenance, system monitoring and optimization, capacity planning, infrastructure automation, security and compliance, incident management and support, mentoring team members, and collaboration with areas outside of the team. The team functions as a 24/7 operational support unit with on-call availability.Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates Excellent Knowledge of Infrastructure & Platforms Systems: Applies comprehensive understanding of group engineering systems management as key responsibility involves designing, implementing, and maintaining the Flutter UKI platform infrastructure. This includes both the development of new platforms and the enhancement of existing ones to meet evolving business needs.
  • Driving Improvements: Proactively drive and contribute to opportunities to improve processes, adopt new technologies, and enhance the reliability, performance, and security of the platform, as well as contribute to the cloud cost management plans
  • Automation Contributor: Actively seeks and spearheads opportunities to implement automation solutions and practices to reduce reliance on manual processes, and promotes self service
  • Ownership : Exhibit ownership of squad deliverables, demonstrating a sense of responsibility and accountability. Lead and take charge of a work stream or incident, including the creation and maintenance of all relevant documentation. • Mentorship: Act as a mentor to other members in the squad, actively sharing knowledge and teaching skills.
  • Role Modelling: Serve as a role model both behaviorally and in terms of capabilities, inspiring Associate/Graduate Engineers through their actions.
  • Consistency: Demonstrate a highly performant delivery approach, providing a reliable and solid pair of hands in all tasks.
  • Stakeholder Management: Exhibit comfort in engaging with non-technical stakeholders, showcasing effective communication and high-level engagement.
  • Collaboration: Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with other teams, such as development and operations. You'll work closely with these teams on initiatives, embracing and providing feedback with a positive attitude.
Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required
  • Strong knowledge of Platform Engineering Principal
  • Strong knowledge of using the supported products in a production environment
  • CDK
  • Kubernetes/Docker
  • Networking
  • AWS
  • Git
  • Jenkins (or similar CI system)
  • Configuration Management (Chef, Ansible)
  • General Linux operations.
  • Infrastructure Specific Products (Virtualization, Storage technologies, Hardware appliances)
  • Aptitude for evaluating and embracing new technologies and tooling.
  • Vast experience with managing high-load, high-performance applications.
  • Strong AWS experience supporting cloud native infrastructure through tooling and automation.
  • Able to drive the ways of working and structure of the squad developing engineers
  • Delegating tasks and serve as a reliable deputy when required
  • Identify and fill skills gaps.
